WATCH: Pay Transparency (new 2023 regulations)

Pay Transparency legislation has been enacted in many states across the US, all with different requirements. We'll walk through the logistics, best practices, and predictions for what's next.

Most of our discussion will center around questions from the audience around the challenges people teams are facing in building towards compliance here, as getting salaries on the JD's are just one manifestation of some epic lifts internally around pay bands.

Speakers are Nikki Adamson, CEO + Founder of Hustle Hunters, and Rocío Garza Tisdell, Sr. People Operations Manager at Brooklyn Data. Both organizations have been leaders in this space and will be able to share learnings, tips and solutions from the past few years of enacting pay transparency policies within their startup organizations.

Key takeaways from this session:

  • Start with understanding your organization’s compensation philosophy (both to date, and for the future)

  • Let the team know what you’re doing and why

  • Tie changes back to company values

  • Training managers and hiring teams on how bands work, how to hire and promote within them is key for enacting these shifts

  • By Oct. 2023, 1/4 of Americans will be “covered” by legislation requiring salary bands to be included on job descriptions (likely more to come)
